چکیده

Waste management and electricity supply have always been among the main challenges faced by developing countries. So far, use of waste to energy (WtE) is one strategy that could simultaneously address these two challenges. However, such technologies requires detailed studies ensure their sustainability. In this paper, potential WtE in cities Nigeria (Abuja Lagos) using anaerobic digestion (AD), incineration, gasification landfill gas (LFGTE), presented with aim evaluating economic viability life cycle costing (LCC) as an analytical tool. This feasibility analysis includes LCC, levelised cost (LCOE), net present value (NPV), internal rate return (IRR) payback period. A sensitivity was conducted investigate influence several parameters on selected for cities. The assessment revealed all systems were feasible viable both except LFGTE Abuja where NPV negative (?USD 105.42/t), IRR 4.17%. Overall, incineration proved be most favourable option based its positive LCC (Lagos USD 214.1/t 232.76/t), lowest LCOE 0.046/t 0.062/t), period 1.6 years 2.2 years) highest 62.8% 45.3%). results also indicated variation capital discount significant effects LCC. paper provides information investors policy makers enhance optimal investment Nigeria.
